The Graupner Easy Build Line are distinguished in the industry by high-quality materials, extreme level of details and a thorough pre-production level setup. The detailed CNC machined components shorten the lengthy and difficult work steps, making our models ideal for beginners and experts alike. The model consists of a glass fiber-reinforced hull (GRP), numerous lasered or deep drawn deck and body parts made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), additional realism provided by photo-etched brass parts, numerous small-milled parts and a very extensive decoration set made of water transfer foil.
The Nordic comes with the propulsion system consisting of two 600 class motors as well as lateral thruster 400 class motor. It also includes the rudder servo and RC mounting frames.
In 1998, the German North Sea Coast Protection Association determined they urgently needed a modernized emergency tow vehicle after the cargo freighter Pallas ran aground, losing a significant amount of oil along the coastline and decimating a bird sanctuary on the island of Auram. Thus, the Nordic was born. Commission and construction began in October 2009 and the Nordic replaced her predecessor, the salvage tug Oceanic, on New Year’s Day 2011.
The most powerful deep-sea recovery trawler in German waters, she is based in Cuxhaven on the mouth of the river Elbe. With a top speed of almost 20 knots, the Nordic can reach any stricken vessel in the German North Sea within two hours. It is equipped with gas and explosion protection so that it can be operated in flammable or health-endangering atmospheres. Safety features include shutting down turbochargers so inside air cannot be ignited, and the exhaust system is cooled with seawater to drastically reduce the temperature of exhaust fumes.
RC radio, batteries, paint, glue, basic building materials and tools are not included.
