As one of our Premium Line of ships, the H.M.S. Bluebell is beautifully detailed and unmatched in the industry. Arriving Almost Ready to Run, the motors, electrical system and rudder servo are already placed, and the only the radio need be installed before the boat is seaworthy. For reliability, performance, further telemetry and model-specific function expansion we highly recommend a Graupner radio such as the mc-16.
The Graupner Premium Line ships are carefully handcrafted and assembled using CNC processing to replicate the model as originally as possible. The hull is made from molded GRP complemented by the superstructure and deck which are constructed from laser-cut ABS parts. Many of the small items are made from metal, and almost everything is factory-assembled. The hull, parts of the superstructure, the masts and fittings are spray painted using matt colors. Decals are already applied. With so many details and scale fittings, the Premium Line ships all have an impressive scale appearance.
The H.M.S. Bluebell was a Flower Class Corvette, which served in the British Royal Navy during the Second World War. It was put into service in July 1940 escorting convoys along the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the Arctic Ocean. Most notably, she participated in escorting convoys during the Allied invasion of Sicily, the invasion of Normandy, and escorting LST’s across the Bristol Channel.
In February 1945, she was attached to the escort for a Russian Convoy and took part in anti-submarine operations against German U-boats in the Kola Inlet. On February 17, 1945 while assembling the Convoy RA 64 off Murmansk, the Bluebell was hit in the stern by an acoustic homing torpedo fired by the U-711. Her depth charges exploded and she sank in less than 30 seconds. Only one crewmember survived.
All our Premium Line boats are carefully packaged and visually inspected prior to leaving our warehouse. The packaging has been drop-tested and can withstand normal freight transportation. In some cases, a part may come lose during transportation which can be easily glued back in place. Our Premium Line boats are insured during shipping and require a signature upon delivery. We will not accept returns under any condition unless the packaging shows serious damage upon arrival. If the product arrives with major visible damage, we advise you to refuse delivery and take pictures of the packaging.
Our Premium Line ships are not always readily available and some have long lead times. You can place yourself on the waiting list and will be notified when the product is back in stock. If you want to secure delivery you must pre-order the product. Pre-orders require full payment at the time of ordering. Contact our sales department at any time for an estimated arrival time of your boat.
